Man Charged with Rape at Nuneaton Railway Station

A 36-year-old man has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault following an alleged incident at a railway station in the Midlands.

The attack on a woman occurred at Nuneaton Railway Station on Friday, March 13, shortly before 9:30 pm.

Police had appealed for help in tracing Billy Ormiston, who was wanted in connection with the crime. He was located in Plymouth city centre on Friday, June 5, and arrested.

Ormiston, of no fixed address, was due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 8, facing two charges of rape and one charge of sexual assault.

British Transport Police officers also raided two residential properties in Plymouth on Friday. One woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

The British Transport Police statement in full said: “A man is due in court charged in connection with a rape at Nuneaton railway station in Warwickshire.”

“British Transport Police officers located Billy Ormiston in Plymouth city centre on the afternoon of Friday, June 5, and arrested him.”

“Ormiston, 36 and of no fixed address, is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, June 8, charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.”

“As part of their enquiries, BTP officers executed warrants at two residential addresses in Plymouth on the night of Friday, June 5.”

The statement continued: “One woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and taken into custody. She was later released on bail pending further enquiries.”

“Officers were called to Nuneaton railway station at 9:24 pm on Friday, March 13, following reports of a rape at the station.”

“Specially-trained officers are continuing to support the victim.”
