Midlands Child Sex Offender Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison

A child sex offender from the Midlands has been jailed for 15 years after his victims courageously relived their traumatic experiences in front of a jury during a trial at Leicester Crown Court. Nathan Glover, 46, was found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences against children under the age of 13, following an extensive investigation by Leicestershire Police.

Investigation and Trial Details

The case came to light in 2021 when one victim came forward, prompting the Leicestershire Police Child Abuse Investigation Unit's non-recent team to launch an inquiry. This led to two additional victims contacting authorities to report that Glover had sexually abused them when they were children. The offending occurred between 2006 and 2011 in locations including Leicester and Skegness.

During police interviews, Glover, of Ardbeg Road in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, denied any wrongdoing and maintained his innocence even after being charged. However, on November 27 last year, after a trial, he was convicted of three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and two counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Sentencing and Court Orders

On March 11, Glover returned to Leicester Crown Court for sentencing, where he received a 15-year prison term. In addition to the jail sentence, the court imposed a restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to protect the public and prevent future offences.

Police Statement and Victim Support

Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Anna Sherwin of Leicestershire Police commented on the case. She said, "The victims in this case have lived their lives knowing what happened to them for a considerable amount of time and had to re-live their ordeal in front of a jury. I hope the outcome of this case has provided them with a degree of closure and allows them to move on with their lives."

Detective Sergeant Sherwin also emphasized the importance of reporting such crimes, stating, "If you've been a victim of sexual abuse, it's never too late to come forward and seek justice." This message underscores the police's commitment to supporting victims and pursuing offenders, regardless of how much time has passed since the incidents occurred.

The case highlights the bravery of the victims who testified and the diligent work of the police in securing a conviction for these historic offences, ensuring that Glover is held accountable for his actions.
