A young mother is receiving hospital treatment for multiple gunshot wounds after a terrifying attack on her family home in south-east London.
Shocking Christmas Eve Attack
The violent incident occurred on Christmas Eve, between 10.30pm and 11pm, at an address on Cronin Street in Peckham. According to the Metropolitan Police, two suspects fired seven shots directly through the front door of the property.
Inside the home at the time was the victim, a woman in her 20s, and her one-year-old son, who was reportedly playing. The child was unharmed in the attack, but the mother sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
Mother's Condition and Police Investigation
The victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and remained in a critical care unit over the Christmas period. A police spokesperson confirmed that she remains in hospital receiving treatment.
Detective Inspector Jordan Gardner, who is leading the investigation, described the event as a "shocking act of violence". He emphasised the gravity of the crime, stating: "This was carried out at a family home where a young child was present. It is vital we identify those responsible and ensure justice for the victim."
Appeal for Witnesses and Suspect Description
Scotland Yard has issued a public appeal for information. The two suspects are described as men wearing dark clothing. One was in a grey hoodie and is believed to have been carrying the firearm, while the second wore a dark hoodie. It is understood they fled the scene on foot towards Commercial Way.
Detective Inspector Gardner urged anyone with information to come forward: "We know there will be people who saw or heard something that could help us. Even if the information seems minor, please come forward."
Investigators are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the areas of Cronin Street, Commercial Way, or Moody Road between 9.45pm and 11.45pm on Wednesday, December 24.
