The data, released by the DVLA following a freedom of information request by vehicle recovery firm Tracker, highlights a worrying shift in criminal behaviour. Thefts of the Toyota C-HR Dynamic HEV CVT have surged in recent times, adding to the growing list of targeted models.
Ford Fiesta Remains Overall Most Stolen Car
Despite the rise in pick-up and van thefts, the UK's most stolen car overall remains the Ford Fiesta. Experts note that Ford's decision to stop manufacturing the iconic Fiesta has sparked a surge in demand for parts, making these vehicles an even more attractive target for thieves seeking valuable components.
Other commonly stolen vehicles include the Toyota RAV4, Ford Puma, and Nissan Juke, according to industry analysis. Clive Wain, head of police liaison at Tracker, commented on the findings, stating that while premium car brands like BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Toyota dominate their stolen vehicle recoveries, intelligence suggests specific models are particularly favoured by criminals.
