Police Trace Getaway Car After Soho Road Pawnbrokers Daylight Ram Raid
West Midlands Police have issued a significant new update following a shocking daylight ram raid on a pawnbrokers in Handsworth, Birmingham. The incident, which occurred on Soho Road, saw a silver Peugeot 207 used to smash into the front of H&T pawnbrokers at approximately 12:30 PM yesterday, April 16.
Getaway Car Discovered Ablaze in Residential Street
Shortly after the brazen robbery, the getaway car was discovered ablaze in Merryhill Drive, Hockley, a residential street located only a four-minute drive from the scene of the crime. Police swiftly sealed off a section of the street as part of their investigation.
A large amount of jewellery was stolen during the raid, which was captured in full on CCTV footage. The footage shows the raiders reversing the Peugeot at high speed into the store, then leaning through the shattered glass to load the vehicle with expensive goods before fleeing the area.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Information
West Midlands Police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident. A force spokesperson stated, "We were called to Soho Road just before 12:30 PM after a car smashed through the window of the jewellers. A large amount of jewellery was stolen, before the offenders fled the area."
The spokesperson confirmed that the car was recovered nearby and has been forensically examined. Police are now urgently appealing to the public for assistance.
