Startling dash cam footage has emerged showing a motorist engaging in highly dangerous driving behaviour on a busy Birmingham road, putting pedestrians at serious risk. The incident occurred on Chester Road in Erdington on March 18, capturing the moment a driver mounted the kerb and accelerated along a pedestrian footpath to bypass traffic.
Video Goes Viral with Over 85,000 Views
The clip, recorded by Uber driver Sajid Chaudhary, has since gone viral online, amassing more than 85,000 views and over 2,000 likes. Sajid, from Birmingham, described the event as "very unexpected and dangerous" and expressed his shock at witnessing the manoeuvre.
"I was shocked when I saw this happening and immediately pointed it out to my passenger," Sajid told reporters. "We were both surprised and concerned, especially as it's a busy area with a footpath nearby. Thankfully, no pedestrians were walking there at the time."
Driver's Dangerous Manoeuvre Detailed
Sajid explained the road layout, noting that Chester Road is divided into two sides for oncoming traffic, with a grass central reservation and a raised kerb in the middle. The driver came from the opposite side of the road and suddenly made a U-turn by driving over the raised curb and across the grass. He then continued at speed and drove onto the curb on the other side of the road, racing along the pedestrian footpath. This reckless act occurred alarmingly close to local amenities, including a veterinary surgery and a care home, heightening concerns for public safety.

Viewers of the viral video were left appalled by the dangerous stunt, with many expressing frustration over such behaviour becoming commonplace.
