Tamworth Drug Dealer Sentenced After Attempting to Flee Police Stop

A Tamworth drug dealer has been jailed after trying to flee from police officers who discovered a hidden stash of cocaine concealed inside a deodorant tub during a vehicle stop. Arben Lusha, aged 33, was driving a silver Citroen C4 on Christchurch Road in Amington, Tamworth, when he was stopped by Staffordshire Police on Thursday, November 20 last year.

Dramatic Attempt to Evade Arrest

Upon being stopped, Lusha immediately struggled with the officers and managed to exit his vehicle in a desperate attempt to run away from the scene. He was quickly apprehended and arrested by the police team. During a subsequent search of his car, officers uncovered a deodorant container that had been repurposed to hold illegal drugs.

The container was found to be packed with a total of 16 individual deals of cocaine, along with a quantity of cash and multiple mobile phones, which are often associated with drug dealing operations. Lusha, who is from Droitwich in Worcestershire, later admitted to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, specifically cocaine, as well as driving without a valid licence and without insurance.

Court Sentencing and Police Response

At Stafford Crown Court on Monday, February 16, Arben Lusha was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison. As part of his punishment, the court also ordered the forfeiture of the seized drugs and cash. Following the sentencing, Superintendent Victoria Downing of Staffordshire Police’s major and organised crime unit commented on the case.

“Lusha knew exactly what we would find in his vehicle, and his attempt to evade our officers clearly demonstrated his deep involvement in criminal activity,” she stated. “I am pleased that he admitted his offences in court and has now received a custodial sentence. Our commitment remains strong to disrupting the supply of illegal substances across Staffordshire and protecting our communities from the significant harm these drugs cause.”

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes and ensure public safety in the Tamworth area and throughout Staffordshire.
