A man from Tamworth who sexually assaulted a young girl has been sentenced to a substantial prison term, following a police investigation where he initially refused to cooperate by giving a 'no comment' interview.
Details of the Offence and Investigation
Martin Bordoli, aged 64 and residing in the Amington area of Tamworth, admitted to sexually abusing a girl in 2024. The offence was reported to Staffordshire Police on the same day it occurred, leading to Bordoli's prompt arrest. During subsequent questioning, he chose to respond with 'no comment' to inquiries, a tactic often used to evade immediate accountability.
Despite this initial lack of cooperation, Staffordshire Police's child protection team diligently worked to gather evidence and support the survivor. Detective Constable Tara Field, from the team, emphasised their commitment, stating that they built a robust case to ensure Bordoli could not escape justice in court.
Court Sentencing and Orders
At a sentencing hearing held at Stafford Crown Court on Friday, January 30, 2026, Bordoli was handed a prison sentence of six years and four months. In addition to this custodial term, the court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and required him to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. These measures are designed to protect the public and prevent future offences.
The police highlighted that their efforts were crucial in securing the conviction, even when faced with Bordoli's initial reluctance to admit his crimes. A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police reiterated their dedication to tackling such heinous acts, encouraging survivors to come forward by calling 101 or using the Live Chat feature on their website if they feel ready to speak out.
This case underscores the importance of thorough police work in overcoming challenges during investigations, ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions regardless of their initial responses to questioning.
