Woman Injured in Daylight Robbery Attempt
A woman was left with arm and wrist injuries following a brazen attempted robbery outside a Lidl supermarket in Tamworth.
The incident occurred on Saturday, November 22, outside the store on Bolebridge Street.
The victim was on her bicycle when a man approached her and tried to steal both her bike and the mobile phone she was holding.
Struggle and Injury During the Attack
During the confrontation, the suspect pushed the woman, causing her to fall to the ground.
As a result of the fall, she sustained injuries to her left arm and wrist.
The situation was mitigated by the actions of Good Samaritans who intervened at the scene to assist the injured woman.
The would-be robber did not succeed in his theft attempt and subsequently fled the area on foot towards Amington Road.
Police Investigation and Witness Appeal
Staffordshire Police have confirmed that a 30-year-old man from Tamworth was arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the event.
He has since been released on conditional bail while officers continue their investigations.
Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the altercation or who assisted the woman to make contact.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “Officers are continuing to make inquiries locally and understand that a number of people tried to intervene to help the woman. We would appeal to anyone who saw what happened or who assisted in any way to contact us.”
