Three Teens Jailed for Brutal Park Stabbing of 15-Year-Old in Birmingham
Teenagers jailed for Alum Rock park stabbing

Three teenagers have been handed custodial sentences for a brutal and unprovoked attack in which a 15-year-old boy was stabbed eight times in a Birmingham park. The shocking incident, captured on CCTV, was motivated by nothing more than the victim being in what his attackers deemed "rival territory".

Horrific Attack Captured on Camera

The violent assault took place at 8.39pm on March 7, 2025, in Morris Park, Alum Rock. Footage from a nearby mosque on Clodeshall Road showed the young victim being surrounded, dragged against a fence, and then subjected to a sustained attack. Ishfaq Ibrahim, 18, Mohammed Hasan, 18, and a 17-year-old accomplice were seen punching, kicking, and repeatedly stabbing the boy eight times in his back, shoulder, and torso.

Prosecutors identified Ishfaq Ibrahim, of Edmund Road, Alum Rock, as the most aggressive participant, who was seen directly inflicting stab wounds. The court heard how the group had initially asked the boy if he was from the local area before launching the violence.

Sentences Handed Down at Birmingham Crown Court

All four defendants involved were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court just before Christmas. Ishfaq Ibrahim received four years and ten months in a young offender institution after pleading guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article.

Mohammed Hasan, of Gowan Road, Alum Rock, was sentenced to four years and five months. His sentence also accounted for a separate offence of possessing a prohibited weapon, after he was caught discarding a converted blank-firing gun during a police response to disorder in May 2023.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age, was also given a detention order of four years and ten months. Instagram messages from his phone revealed a disturbing mindset, describing Alum Rock as a "no rules warzone" and stating the plan had been to "punch him up" before it escalated to a stabbing.

Getaway Driver and Lasting Trauma

Idris Urfan, 22, of Monk Road, Ward End, acted as the getaway driver. The former bus driver filmed the attack on his phone from his Volkswagen Golf before driving the three assailants away. He admitted assisting an offender and was sentenced to 12 months, having already served most of that time on remand.

The impact on the 15-year-old victim has been profound and lasting. His injuries were so severe he required eight hours of life-saving surgery at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Nine months on, he has not regained full use of his arm, suffers constant nightmares, and is too afraid to leave his home. His father described his son, once a "vibrant, smiley boy", as now struggling to even speak, highlighting the devastating human cost of such mindless violence.
