Third Teen Arrested After Smethwick Stabbings

Police have arrested a third teenager on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Smethwick that left two men injured. The 18-year-old was detained on the Wigmore Estate in West Bromwich on the evening of June 2, as part of an ongoing investigation into the disorder that occurred on Foundry Lane on May 26.

Another 18-year-old was also arrested in the same area on suspicion of possession of a knife. Both individuals remain in police custody for questioning.

West Midlands Police confirmed that two other teenagers have already been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident. Edson Silva, 18, from Lozells, Birmingham, faces two counts of attempted murder and possession of a knife. He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on June 1. A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, has been charged with the same offences.

The stabbings took place during a disorder on Foundry Lane in Smethwick, where two men were taken to hospital. A 21-year-old victim remains in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to police.

In a statement, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We've made two further arrests in relation to disorder in Smethwick last week. As part of our enquiries, we arrested an 18-year-old man last night from West Bromwich on suspicion of attempted murder. A second teenager, 18, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife. They remain in custody for questioning."
