Three arrests after Leicester city centre attack

Police in Leicester are urgently appealing for witnesses after a violent city centre attack left a young man with serious head injuries. The victim, a man in his 20s, remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital a week after the assault.

Attack in the Early Hours

The incident occurred in the heart of Leicester, on Horsefair Street, in the early hours of Sunday, November 30. Emergency services were called to the scene just before 5am following reports that a man had been seriously injured.

Detectives from Leicestershire Police's Complex Investigation Team (CIT) have been conducting a thorough inquiry, which includes extensive CCTV trawls and speaking to potential witnesses.

Three Arrests Made in Investigation

As part of their progressing investigation, officers have now made three arrests. A 20-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail.

This week, police made two further arrests. Two men, aged 18 and 22, were also detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and were questioned by detectives.

Despite these developments, investigators believe three other people were either involved in or linked to the incident and have not yet come forward.

Police Urge: 'Do the Right Thing'

Detective Sergeant Adrian Davies has issued a direct appeal to those individuals and to the wider public for assistance. "Our inquiries are very much progressing now with three arrests being made," said DS Davies.

"However, we do believe others have been involved in the incident or linked to the incident on the night. To those people, we ask that you do the right thing and make contact with us now."

He emphasised the human impact of the crime, stating: "A young man remains in hospital a week on having been seriously injured in this attack and we will not stop until we get answers for him and his family."

The police appeal extends to anyone who was in Leicester city centre on the Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning and may have seen the altercation or have any relevant information.

Authorities are also keen to obtain any footage of the incident, whether captured on a mobile phone or from a dashcam in the area at the time.

DS Davies concluded: "Your information, no matter how big or small, could help us." Anyone with information is urged to contact Leicestershire Police immediately.
