Tributes Paid to 'Loving' Grandfather Found Unconscious in Leicester Park
Tributes are pouring in for a beloved grandfather who was discovered unconscious in a Midlands park earlier this week. James McKeown, affectionately known as Jimmy, passed away in hospital after the tragic incident.
Discovery and Hospitalisation
The 62-year-old was found in Beaumont Leys Park, located in Leicester, at approximately 6:20 PM on Monday, April 6. Emergency services rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Family's Heartfelt Tribute
In an emotional statement, his grieving family expressed the profound impact of his loss. "To say that the events of Monday evening have changed our lives forever is an understatement," they said. "We have lost a loving father, brother, partner, and grandfather. Our lives will never be the same again."
The family highlighted Jimmy's deep roots in the community, noting he had lived locally for nearly two decades and was well-known, often called "Spider" by friends and neighbours. They have requested privacy during this difficult time to process their grief.
Legal Developments
In connection with Mr. McKeown's death, Leicestershire Police have charged a man with manslaughter. Joshua Moore, aged 33 and residing on Fowler Close in Beaumont Leys, Leicester, was scheduled to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, April 8.
The community continues to mourn the loss of a cherished figure, while authorities proceed with the legal case surrounding this tragic event.
