Two More Teenagers Arrested in Smethwick Mosque Stabbing Murder Case
West Midlands Police have made two further arrests in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teenager outside a mosque in Smethwick. The boys, aged 16 and 17, were taken into custody on suspicion of murder earlier today, Friday, February 27.
Details of the Incident and Investigation
The arrests follow the death of 18-year-old Zeshan Afzal, who was found with serious stab wounds following reported disorder on Oldbury Road just before 9pm on February 20. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the scene.
Earlier this week, police charged a 17-year-old with murder in relation to this case. However, officers have now expanded their investigation, leading to the detention of two more teenagers in the Sandwell area.
Both individuals remain in police custody this afternoon as enquiries continue. A force spokesperson emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation, stating: "Our enquiries are continuing and we urge anyone who has not yet spoken to us to come forward."
