West Midlands Police have confirmed the arrest of two more teenagers in connection with the tragic death of 18-year-old Zeshan Afzal in Smethwick. The latest suspects, aged 14 and 17, were taken into custody following police warrants executed in the Smethwick area on April 4 and April 5.

The arrests mark a significant development in the murder probe, which began after Zeshan Afzal was allegedly stabbed to death near a mosque on Oldbury Road in Smethwick, Sandwell, on February 20. Both of the newly arrested individuals remain in police custody for questioning as of today.

In a statement released today, West Midlands Police said: "We've made two further arrests following the death of Zeshan Afzal in Smethwick. Zeshan, aged 18, died after being stabbed on Oldbury Road on 20 February. Two further boys aged 14 and 17 have been arrested on suspicion of murder following warrants carried out yesterday (4 April) and this morning (5 April) in Smethwick. Both remain in custody for questioning."
The police added: "Since Zeshan's death, we have charged a total of seven teenagers with murder. Our thoughts remain with Zeshan's family and everyone who knew him, and specially trained officers are continuing to support his family. This remains an active investigation, and we are continuing to ask anyone who may not have already spoken to us or has any information to come forward and make a report."
