Walsall Studio School was placed into lockdown this afternoon following a frightening incident nearby. The school sent a message to parents and guardians informing them that no one could leave the premises until police gave the all-clear.
The message stated: "We have been alerted to an incident in town and as a result students are to remain in the school building until we hear from the police."
Robbery on Bradford Street
The lockdown came after a robbery took place on nearby Bradford Street at around 12pm today, Wednesday, May 20. During the incident, a weapons threat was reportedly made, according to West Midlands Police.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said: "We were called to Bradford Street, Walsall, shortly after 12pm today following reports of a robbery at a business where offenders made threats with weapons. We are investigating and anyone with any information is urged to ring 101 quoting log number 2078-200626."
