Police have released two men who were arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a man in Wolverhampton on Christmas Day.
Christmas Morning Tragedy
Emergency services were called to Burcot Avenue in Wolverhampton at approximately 3:30am on Wednesday, 25 December. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service discovered a man with serious injuries.
The victim, a 30-year-old man named locally as Trey, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrests and New Developments
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, detectives arrested two men, aged 35 and 58, on suspicion of murder.
West Midlands Police has now confirmed that both men have been released from custody with no further action to be taken against them.
The investigation has taken a new turn, however, with officers arresting a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender. She remains in police custody for questioning.
Ongoing Murder Investigation
A police spokesperson stated: “We're continuing to investigate a fatal stabbing in Wolverhampton on Christmas Day. Our enquiries remain ongoing.”
Detective Chief Superintendent Ed Foster, who is leading the investigation, emphasised that police are in the early stages of their work. He confirmed that forensic examinations, CCTV reviews, and witness interviews are being conducted.
