Coventry Woman Sentenced for Role in Major Drug Gang Operations
A woman from Coventry, described as "greedy" by a judge, has been jailed for two and a half years after being found guilty of assisting a significant UK drugs gang. Adele Parsons, aged 36, handled over £50,000 in criminal proceeds, which she spent on luxury items including designer clothing and a Rolex watch, while maintaining a lavish lifestyle with frequent visits to Dubai.
Court Details and Evidence Presented
At Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday, February 12, Parsons was convicted on two counts of possessing criminal property and two counts of transferring criminal property. Judge Samantha Crabb highlighted that Parsons was not in financial distress and held stable employment, yet was driven by greed to participate in criminal activities. The judge noted her attempts to deceive the jury by portraying herself as an innocent victim, labeling her behavior as arrogant.
Evidence revealed that Parsons was in direct Snapchat communication with the gang's leader, known only as "Sky," who orchestrated the operations. She traveled across the UK to conduct cash exchanges, with one instance on September 21, 2022, where police observed her meeting gang member Ryan Prescott in Willenhall and receiving a plastic bag containing approximately £10,000.
Luxury Spending and Arrest Details
Following her arrest at a shop, police seized shopping bags with designer clothes totaling £5,185 in receipts. Parsons was wearing a man's Rolex watch valued at £8,500 and had recently embarked on a £16,000 shopping spree in London. Judge Crabb asserted that all these assets were connected to profits from class A drugs.
Despite refusing to provide her phone's PIN, authorities accessed it through a second phone seized during a subsequent arrest in November 2022. This device exposed extensive Snapchat messages with Sky, detailing locations and passcodes for exchanges. Parsons claimed she was paid £500 per transaction, but the judge emphasized her active role, noting three exchanges in a single day and her willingness to travel extensively for financial gain.
Defense and Broader Context
Defense attorney Chiara Maddocks argued that Parsons faced coercion, naivety, and exploitation, and had previously engaged in lawful employment. The prolonged investigation and court proceedings reportedly caused her anxiety and depression, which she managed through fitness activities. Judge Crabb acknowledged positive character references, describing Parsons as a loyal friend and respected worker, but criticized her failure to assist authorities in identifying Sky or advancing the investigation.
This case is part of a larger crackdown on drug trafficking, with five men from Coventry, including Ryan Prescott, previously sentenced to nearly 60 years combined for conspiracy to supply drugs, and another individual jailed for three years for money laundering in 2025. The court emphasized that the £50,000 figure was a conservative estimate of Parsons' involvement with criminal funds.
