New Wildlife Splash Pad Opens Near Birmingham

A brand new splash pad has opened in a lido park near Birmingham, featuring a charming 'wildlife theme' that promises hours of fun for children. The attraction, named Saltwich Splash, is located in Lido Park, Droitwich Spa, and is completely free to use.

Wildlife-Themed Water Play Area

Everything at the splash pad is designed to delight young visitors, from the wooden sign at the entrance depicting frogs, bees, squirrels, and otters to the interactive water features. The £550,000 facility sits next to the tennis courts in Lido Park, which is also home to a popular outdoor swimming pool.

Children can enjoy water sprays, green arches to run through, a tipper bucket, an area of boulders, and a water run with different levels accessible via a ramp. Additionally, there are games like noughts and crosses scattered throughout the park.

Council Statement on Design

A spokesperson for Wychavon District Council, which delivered the new play area, said: 'Titled Saltwich Splash, the design has plenty of nods to the town's heritage and wildlife. New and exciting features include water sprays and arches, a tipper bucket, an area of boulders and a water run with different levels to fire children's imagination. Plenty of seating has also been added to ensure the design is mostly accessible so everyone can enjoy the fun.'

This is the final water play upgrade by Wychavon, following similar projects in Pershore in 2024 and Evesham in 2023. The old water plays had become outdated and increasingly expensive to maintain.

Opening Times and Facilities

The splash pad is open daily from 10am to 6pm until September. Visitors can also enjoy a cafe called Little Al's at the Lido, as well as picnic areas. The park offers ample seating for parents and guardians.

Alternatively, take a train from Birmingham Snow Hill Station to Droitwich Spa; the park is a 15-minute walk (0.7 miles) from the station.
