Bilston Bingo Player Wins £50,000 Jackpot, Stunned Winner Steps Out for Air
A 24-year-old bingo player from the Midlands has scooped a life-changing £50,000 prize, leaving him so shocked that he had to step outside for some air to process the incredible win. The anonymous winner claimed the jackpot at Mecca Bingo on Spring Vale Retail Park in Bilston, marking the second time in just six months that the venue has awarded a £50,000 prize in the National Bingo Game.
Stunned Reaction and Disbelief
According to Mecca bingo caller Amy Shermer, the winner looked absolutely stunned when the jackpot was announced on a busy Saturday night. "It was a busy Saturday night, and when the message that we had a jackpot winner in the room flashed up on my screen I thought, 'oh my life!'" Shermer said. "The winner looked so shocked. His friends were jumping up and down, and when another player told him that he’d hit the jackpot, he just couldn’t believe it - he thought they were winding him up and told them to 'get lost'!"
Shermer added that the winner was so overwhelmed when she confirmed the £50,000 prize that he needed to step outside to get some fresh air. "I don’t think he actually believed it until we told him that there was paperwork that we needed to fill out," she continued. The player admitted he was a little nervous and almost didn’t shout out to claim his prize, and when he did, he was completely unaware that he had won the fabulous jackpot.
Second Major Win in Six Months
This win marks the second £50,000 National Bingo Game jackpot at Mecca Bilston in just six months, following another £50,000 prize won back in July last year. The £50,000 cash prize is triggered when a player matches all the numbers on their ticket and claims a 'full house' within the first 16 numbers being called during the game.
"In 16 years working here, this is the biggest prize that I’ve announced," added Amy Shermer. "It’s an incredible adrenaline rush when we have a big win. I love working here and making people smile." The prize was won on Saturday, February 7, highlighting the excitement and potential for life-changing moments at local bingo halls in the Black Country area.
