Depraved Snapchat Predator Who Targeted 152 Young Victims Jailed for 31 Years
Snapchat Predator Jailed 31 Years for 152 Child Abuse Crimes

A predator with 'no moral compass' who lured 152 victims, including girls as young as nine, into sending him sexual videos and images has been jailed for 31 years. Siah Riley also threatened 24 young victims, saying he would share their explicit images online if they refused to send more.

How the Predator Operated

Riley, 36, used Snapchat to incite children aged between nine and 16 to share sexual images and videos with him between 2021 and 2023. Leanne Summers, prosecuting, said he used two Snapchat accounts. One was under the name Josh King, where he pretended to be a teenage boy, and another under the name Kim, where he posed as a teenage girl. On each occasion, he requested images of a sexual nature. His attitude changed when victims became reluctant, and he blackmailed 24 of them.

Recording and Storing Images

His method involved using one device to chat to victims and another to record what was sent. He then moved the images to a laptop, storing them under the victims' names. The victims did not know he was recording them. When police seized his devices, they found 1,831 indecent images of children, which he retained for his own sexual pleasure.

Victim Impact

The court heard one 13-year-old girl referred to Riley as 'Master' and apologised for 'not doing better' for him. Riley blackmailed her, threatening to post videos to TikTok, Facebook, pornography sites, the dark web, and 'everywhere he could'. Another blackmail victim told him she was only 10 years old, to which he replied: 'I don't care, you are hot.' Victim impact statements revealed feelings of betrayal. One mother said: 'My family will never forgive and forget... every time I see the scars on my daughter's arms it makes me hate you a little more.'

Sentencing

Riley, of Walbrook Road, Derby, pleaded guilty to multiple counts including causing or inciting a child to engage in penetrative sexual activity, blackmail, and engaging in sexual communication with a child. He had a previous conviction for rape from 2012, for which he was jailed for six-and-a-half years. Judge Shaun Smith KC jailed Riley for 31 years, saying: 'This was depraved. The extent of your obsession with online pornography involving young girls is truly breathtaking. You have no moral compass. You are every parent's worst nightmare. In my 46 years in this profession, I have never encountered a case with so many offences and so many victims.'

Riley was also handed a lifetime sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offender register for life.
