A West Midlands mother has made the heart-wrenching decision to travel to Switzerland to end her life, following the death of her only son. Wendy Duffy, a 56-year-old care worker from the West Midlands, has paid £10,000 to the assisted dying clinic Pegasos in Switzerland, according to multiple news outlets including LBC, the Daily Mail, and The Express.
Mother's Emotional Decision
In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail journalist Jenny Johnson, Duffy explained her choice. She said: "I could step off a motorway bridge or a tower block but that would leave anyone finding me dealing with that for the rest of their lives." Instead, she opted for a peaceful end at the Swiss clinic, hoping her "spirit can be free."
Struggling with Grief
Duffy has been unable to recover from the death of her son Marcus, who passed away at the age of 23 four years ago. Despite undergoing years of therapy and taking anti-depressants, she has found no relief from her grief. Duffy, who has no terminal illness, is scheduled to end her life at the Pegasos clinic this week.
