People in Stratford-upon-Avon have a unique opportunity to help others by joining a vital local support team. The Stratford upon Avon and District Samaritans are actively looking for new listening volunteers to join their friendly group this year.
About the Samaritans
As a dedicated charity, the Samaritans work to reduce feelings of isolation and disconnection that can lead to suicide. The team provides a safe and non-judgemental space for anyone experiencing emotional distress or a personal crisis.
Volunteer Role
Volunteers help staff the free 24-hour helpline, which is available to anyone in need every single day of the year. Joining the charity is a chance to make a real difference to lives while gaining valuable new skills and experiences. You do not need to have specific life experiences or come from a particular background to be a great listener.
Training and Support
The charity ensures that every new person is fully trained, mentored, and supported throughout their journey. If you are interested in helping, an information evening is being held to answer any questions you might have.
New Volunteer Welcome Evening
The New Volunteer Welcome evening will take place on June 9, 2026, from 7pm to 8.30pm. The event is being hosted at Tyler House in Stratford upon Avon for anyone curious about what the role involves.
How to Attend
People who wish to attend can register their interest by calling 01789 332545, or visiting the website. By giving a little of your time, you could provide a lifeline to someone during their most difficult moments.
