The Streets have announced a major change to their sold-out Saturday night gig in Manchester this weekend, moving the entire show an hour earlier to accommodate England's World Cup quarter-final against Norway, which kicks off at 10pm.
Show Time Shift for England Clash
Mike Skinner, the Birmingham-raised frontman of The Streets, is performing two massive outdoor shows at Castlefield Bowl as part of the Sounds of the City series on Friday and Saturday nights. Originally scheduled to take the stage at 9pm both evenings, the Saturday performance has been shifted forward to allow fans to watch the England match.
England secured their place in the quarter-finals with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in the early hours of Monday. By Monday afternoon, The Streets confirmed the schedule change via an announcement, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Revised Set Times for Saturday
Doors will now open at 4pm instead of 5pm on Saturday, 11 July. Support acts Antony Szmierek from Hyde and London's CASISDEAD will also perform an hour earlier, with their sets moved to 5:40pm and 6:25pm respectively. The Streets' headline set will begin at 7:25pm, finishing at 8:45pm, allowing the audience to catch the 10pm kick-off.
Mike Skinner will perform his landmark second album, A Grand Don't Come For Free, in full at both shows. The album features hits like 'Fit But Don't You Know It', 'Dry Your Eyes' and 'Blinded By The Lights'.
Sounds of the City Series Continues
The Sounds of the City series kicked off on Friday evening with The K's, who, despite hailing from Earlestown, consider Manchester a second home. Saturday night also marked the return of the iconic Haçienda Classical event, celebrating its tenth anniversary. This week, the series will feature performances from Wet Leg and Johnny Marr before The Streets' back-to-back shows on Friday and Saturday.
