The first ever Off Grid Festival is set to take place in Sutton Coldfield this summer, transforming a secluded Warwickshire woodland site at Bassetts Pole into a day-long music and wellness event. Spanning 10km2, the festival will run for 11 hours on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 30, 2026, featuring leading global house and garage DJs and producers, including Birmingham's own Hannah Wants, Todd Edwards, and Sam Divine.
Event Concept and Philosophy
Off Grid is built around the theme 'No Signal Required', encouraging attendees to disconnect from their phones and immerse themselves in the music and natural surroundings. The day-long nature and wellness event will also host independent food traders from across the region, offering a curated culinary experience.
Created by the teams behind LAB11, DNB Collective, and Rock n Rolla, the festival aims to bring the escapism of Ibiza to a hidden woodland setting. Alex Schmitz, co-director of Off Grid and creator of Rock n Rolla, described the vision as 'years in the making'. He said: 'The uniqueness this site already offers, combined with the natural backdrop of Sutton Coldfield woodland, makes this venue unlike anything else on the UK festival circuit; a hidden gem that feels worlds away, yet is right on our doorstep, creating the perfect atmosphere for music to truly come alive to.'
Lineup and Special Performances
Hannah Wants, a Birmingham house producer and DJ who has won awards from Mixmag, DJ Mag, and the Bass Music Awards, will play a one-off B2B set with Todd Edwards. Edwards, an influential US producer, DJ, and vocalist, won a Grammy for his work on Daft Punk's 'Random Access Memories' and is known for shaping the UK garage sound. Sam Divine, a prominent house DJ, will also perform. A special guest and further artist announcements are expected.
Founders' Perspectives
Jack Young, co-director of Off Grid and award-winning promoter behind DNB Collective, said: 'With years of incredible creativity around electronic music, Birmingham and the West Midlands has long deserved a festival that is based on our collective love of the culture. After more than a decade of overcoming the challenges that come with promoting events and building businesses in this industry, it felt like the natural next step.' He added: 'We’re not just putting on another festival. We’re creating an experience that brings together the energy and escapism of Ibiza with the mystery and beauty of a hidden woodland setting.'
Impact and Future Plans
The festival is designed to create opportunities for local talent and businesses, with a focus on long-term legacy. Tickets are available via the Off Grid Festival website, and further programme details will be announced. The event is part of a broader summer 2026 lineup in Birmingham, which includes a family festival, outdoor pools, and lidos.
