Slayyyter has been named the Capital Buzz Artist for July, marking the latest installment of Capital's monthly initiative to spotlight emerging musical talent. The pop artist, whose real name is Catherine Slater, follows previous honorees including Audrey Hobert, Freya Skye, Bella Kay, Sekou, Arthur Hill, and Skye Newman.
Capital Buzz Artist Program
Capital Buzz, Capital's digital pop-culture brand, launched the monthly artist spotlight in 2025 to provide breakthrough acts with significant exposure. The program includes on-air interviews, radio rotation of the artist's music, and nationwide billboard advertising across the UK. Additionally, Capital Buzz Artists receive a performance slot at Capital's Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard, where previous performers Rose Gray and Alessi Rose played to over 20,000 Capital listeners.
Slayyyter's Rise to Fame
Slayyyter first emerged as an independent artist in 2019 with pop tracks like 'BFF' and 'Mine', quickly building a devoted fanbase. She also explored a brasher side with songs such as 'Daddy AF', which later appeared in the soundtrack for the film Anora. Over subsequent years, she refined her sound with independent projects like Troubled Paradise and Starf----r, earning comparisons to artists like Kim Petras, PinkPantheress, and Charli xcx.
Major Label Signing and Album Release
In August 2025, Slayyyter released the critically acclaimed single 'BEAT UP CHANELZ' and simultaneously announced her signing to Columbia Records. She followed this in March 2026 with the album WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA, which has been hailed as one of the standout albums of the year. The album showcases her signature pop hooks and dynamic production, while also featuring her most lyrically honest work to date, addressing her complex relationship with her father in 'GAS STATION' and career struggles in 'BRITTANY MURPHY.'
Current Success and Live Performances
Slayyyter is currently gaining traction on TikTok with her single 'DANCE...', a shimmering pop track about seeking solitude on the dancefloor. The song is considered a frontrunner for song of the year. Her live performances at summer festivals have drawn increasingly large crowds, underscoring her status as a rising force in pop music.
According to a Capital spokesperson, "Slayyyter embodies the energy and artistry we look for in a Capital Buzz Artist. We're thrilled to support her as she continues to break through."
