Davina McCall's Breast Cancer Journey: Early Detection Saves Life
Davina McCall reveals breast cancer diagnosis and surgery

TV Star's Emotional Health Update

Beloved British television personality Davina McCall has shared significant personal health news with her followers, revealing she was diagnosed with breast cancer six weeks ago.

The 58-year-old presenter confirmed on Saturday, November 8, 2025, that she has undergone successful surgery after discovering a lump in her breast while working on the set of ITV's The Masked Singer.

Discovery and Diagnosis

McCall explained in an emotional Instagram video how she first noticed the lump, which initially seemed to come and go. Her awareness was heightened by encountering a reminder in the most unexpected of places.

"When I was filming The Masked Singer, the show Lorraine put signs on the back of their toilet doors saying 'check your breasts'," she shared. "Every time I went for a wee I did that, and it was still there."

This prompted her to seek medical attention, leading to a biopsy that confirmed the presence of breast cancer. She underwent a lumpectomy procedure nearly three weeks ago to remove the cancerous tissue.

Positive Prognosis and Treatment Plan

Fortunately, the cancer was detected at a very early stage, giving McCall an excellent chance of full recovery. Medical professionals have confirmed the cancer was successfully removed and hadn't spread to other areas.

"It was very very small so I got it very very early, which is incredibly lucky," McCall expressed with relief. "I am so relieved that I have had it removed and that it hasn't spread."

Despite the early detection, she will still require radiotherapy as part of her ongoing treatment plan to ensure complete recovery.

Drawing from Previous Health Experience

This isn't the first health challenge McCall has faced publicly. In November 2024, she revealed she had been diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare type of benign brain tumour.

After a successful six-hour operation to remove the 14mm cyst, she was declared cancer-free. McCall stated she wanted to share her current breast cancer journey to help others, similar to how she discussed her brain tumour experience.

The television icon acknowledged experiencing anger upon receiving her diagnosis but has since moved to a more positive mindset. She expressed gratitude toward her medical team, family, and fiancé Michael Douglas for their unwavering support throughout this challenging period.

Important Message to Women

McCall concluded her announcement with a powerful public health message, captioning her video: "The message here is know your boobs. Notice any changes. Don't procrastinate. Get your free checkups. And never ignore a niggle."

Her courageous decision to share this personal health journey continues her pattern of using her platform to raise awareness about important health issues, encouraging early detection and regular screenings that can save lives.
