Davina McCall's Breast Cancer Diagnosis After Seeing Poster
Davina McCall's breast cancer caught early by poster

Television presenter Davina McCall has shared a powerful health update, revealing that a simple poster campaign was responsible for her early breast cancer detection.

A Lifesaving Prompt

The 58-year-old star told her 2.1 million Instagram followers that she discovered a lump only after being prompted by a poster she saw at ITV headquarters. The poster, championed by Lorraine Kelly and her daytime show, encouraged women to 'check their boobs' and detailed the signs to look for, with the prominent message: 'SAVE YOUR LIFE in the time it takes to get changed.'

Davina explained that she found the lump while 'sitting on the loo' after seeing the sign. She acted swiftly, leading to a biopsy which confirmed breast cancer.

Treatment and Recovery

McCall underwent a lumpectomy nearly three weeks ago to remove the cancer. She emphasised in a heartfelt video that the disease was caught 'very very early' and had not spread.

As a precaution, the presenter will undergo five days of radiotherapy in January, which she described as an 'insurance policy' to remain cancer-free. This news comes just a year after she recovered from surgery to remove a non-cancerous colloid cyst from her brain.

A Message of Vigilance

Davina confessed to feeling 'very angry' upon receiving the diagnosis but has since moved to a more positive place. Her central message to the public is one of proactive health.

She wrote alongside her video announcement: 'The message here, is know your boobs. Notice any changes. Don't procrastinate. Get your free checkups. And never ignore a niggle.' She also expressed her profound gratitude to the medical team and her loved ones, including partner Michael Douglas, for their support.
