Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body in a Birmingham country park.
Emergency services called to the scene
West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Woodgate Valley Country Park at approximately 3.20pm on Wednesday, 14 January 2026. The emergency response was triggered by reports of a body found in the water of one of the park's ponds.
The park, which borders the Quinton and Bartley Green areas of the city, was the focus of a significant emergency service presence. Multiple ambulance resources were dispatched to the location alongside police officers.
Police treat death as unexplained
In an official statement released on Wednesday, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the details. "We've been called after a body was discovered in the water in Woodgate Valley Country Park around 3.40pm today (14 January)," they said.
The force has stated that the death is currently being treated as unexplained. Detectives are now conducting enquiries to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the incident and establish what happened.
