Heroic Bystanders Perform CPR as Air Ambulance Rushes to Sutton Coldfield

A woman found in a critical condition near a park was rushed to hospital following heroic CPR efforts by members of the public. Paramedics and an air ambulance were called to a medical emergency on Whitehouse Common Road, near Withy Hill Park in Sutton Coldfield, at around 6:25 pm yesterday, Tuesday, May 5.

Crews arrived to find hero members of the public already performing CPR on the woman, who was in a critical condition. Paramedics quickly took over resuscitation efforts and she was given advanced life support before being rushed to hospital on blue lights.

Response Details

Two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance responded to the emergency. Images shared online showed the helicopter flying overhead and once it had landed.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman told BirminghamLive: "We were called to a medical emergency on Whitehouse Common Road, Sutton Coldfield at 6:25 pm. Crews arrived to find bystanders performing CPR on a woman in a critical condition. The team of medics quickly took over resuscitation efforts and administered advanced life support before she was conveyed on blue lights and sirens to hospital for further emergency care."

The spokesman added: "Two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance responded to the scene."
