DWP Confirms May Bank Holiday Changes to PIP, ESA, and Attendance Allowance Payments
DWP May Changes to PIP, ESA, Attendance Allowance Payments

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced further adjustments to payment schedules for certain benefit claimants later this month. These changes will affect Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and Attendance Allowance, among others. As a result, some individuals will receive their payments at different times than usual.

Reason for the Changes

The modifications are due to the upcoming May bank holiday, which falls on Monday 25th. The DWP does not process payments on bank holidays, so payment dates are being brought forward to the nearest working day, which is Friday, May 22nd.

Who Is Affected?

Only claimants whose scheduled payment date coincides with the bank holiday will experience a change. For all others, payments will arrive in bank accounts as normal. It is crucial for households to be aware of when their money will arrive to avoid any unexpected disruptions.

Individuals may need to ensure their funds last longer until the next payment date. They are advised to budget carefully to cover bills and essential expenses during this period.

Other Benefits Affected

State pension payments will also be subject to the same adjustment, as will other DWP benefits such as Universal Credit. This follows similar disruptions experienced by some households during the previous bank holiday.

The DWP encourages all claimants to check their payment schedules and plan accordingly. For more information, individuals can visit the official DWP website or contact their local jobcentre.
