Mid and South Essex NHS Shine Awards Open for 2024 Nominations
Do you know an individual or team at your local hospital who has provided exceptional care to you, a loved one, or a friend? Now is your opportunity to celebrate their dedication and hard work. Nominations are officially open for the sixth annual Shine Awards, organised by the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which aims to recognise the extraordinary efforts of staff both on the frontline and behind the scenes.
Celebrating Hospital Heroes Across Essex
Hospital workers from Basildon, Broomfield, and Southend hospitals, as well as community hospital sites throughout the region, are eligible for nomination. They can be shortlisted across 10 award categories, highlighting their ongoing commitment to enhancing patient care and support.
This year introduces an exciting new category: Volunteer of the Year. This award celebrates the invaluable contributions of volunteers who generously donate their time, energy, and compassion to assist patients and staff, making a significant impact every single day.

Dawn Scrafield, Chief Executive and head judge of the awards, emphasised that the Shine Awards reflect the core values of the Trust and its dedicated workforce. They remind us just how exceptional the people working across the Trust truly are and how proud we are of the difference they make to patients’ lives.”
Nomination Details and Timeline
Nominations opened on Thursday, February 26, and will close at 11.59pm on Sunday, April 26. Patients, families, carers, and staff are all encouraged to submit nominations for individuals or teams who consistently go above and beyond to improve care and support others within the healthcare community.
