DWP Summons PIP Claimants to Meetings That Could Slash Payments to Zero
DWP Calls PIP Claimants for Meetings That May Cut Payments

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is summoning individuals receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP) to in-person meetings that could potentially reduce their payments to zero. PIP provides up to £114.60 per week at the higher rate, but claimants may face a review that could alter their benefits.

Understanding the PIP Review Process

When your PIP claim was approved, you received a letter detailing when your claim would end and whether it would be reviewed. The DWP assures that you will continue to receive PIP while your claim is under review. You will receive a letter requesting you to complete a form titled 'Personal Independence Payment Review.'

Steps to Complete the Review

The DWP advises filling in the form using the accompanying notes. It states: 'Send the form and any supporting information you have not shared with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) before - the form explains what to include and where to send it.' You must return the form within one month. Contact the PIP enquiry line if you require additional time.

The DWP will review your form. If further information is needed, an independent health professional may phone you with questions or send a letter inviting you to an assessment. Assessments can be conducted in person, over the phone, or via video call. You will receive a letter outlining the outcome. If your needs have changed, your PIP may be increased, reduced, or stopped.

Challenging a Decision

If you disagree with a decision regarding your claim, you can request a mandatory reconsideration. This applies if you believe the office made an error, missed important evidence, or if you disagree with the reasons for the decision. You can also request a reconsideration if you simply want the decision reviewed again.
