A person has tragically died at Smethwick Galton Bridge railway station following a large emergency response. British Transport Police and paramedics were called to the station on Friday, May 1, at around 9.53pm after reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Police Statement
British Transport Police Chief Inspector Dave Purdy said: "Officers were called to Smethwick Galton Bridge railway station at 9.53pm on Friday, May 1, following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
