Tamworth Railway Station Closed Following Fatal Car Park Incident
Tamworth railway station has been completely shut down today, causing significant disruption to train services across the region, after police launched a murder investigation. The closure follows the discovery of a 28-year-old man's body in the station car park during the early hours of Sunday, March 8.

Forensic teams are currently conducting a thorough examination of the car park area, which has been cordoned off by police. British Transport Police have confirmed they are treating the death as suspicious and have initiated a murder probe. A 28-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody this afternoon.
Detective Inspector Marvin Bruno stated: "Our specialist family liaison officers are providing support to the victim's family and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time. We are urging anyone with information or who witnessed events leading up to the man's death to contact us immediately."
Major Train Disruption Across Multiple Services
The station closure has created widespread travel chaos, with multiple train operators affected:
- CrossCountry services between Exeter St Davids/Birmingham New Street and Leeds
- CrossCountry services between Cardiff Central/Birmingham New Street and Nottingham
- Avanti West Coast services between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly/Liverpool Lime Street
- London Northwestern Railway services between London Euston and Crewe
National Rail has confirmed that disruption is expected to continue until approximately 2:30 pm. Both the High Level and Low Level platforms at Tamworth station are currently inaccessible to all train services.
