Police Warn Motorists on Busiest Bank Holiday in Decade

Warwickshire Police have issued a warning to motorists as this bank holiday weekend is expected to be the busiest in a decade. The RAC has predicted that 19 million trips will be made across the UK, with four in ten British drivers expected to hit the road.

Police Urge Safe Driving

In a social media post, Warwickshire Police reminded drivers to prioritise safety. They stated: "According to the RAC, this Bank Holiday is due to be the busiest in ten years for our roads, with a predicted 19 million trips planned across the country. That's four-in-ten British drivers on the road at some point."

They added: "If you're planning one of those 19 million trips this weekend, just be aware – you are not stuck in traffic, you are traffic. Your safety and that of other drivers relies on you making sure that you're driving safely, with respect to other vehicles, with vigilance, and that you are taking breaks as often as you need them if you're doing a long trip."

Operation Snap Encourages Reporting

The force also promoted Operation Snap, which allows the public to submit dashcam footage of dangerous driving. Offences that can be reported include dangerous driving, using a mobile phone while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt.

Motorists are encouraged to report any driving offences they witness to help keep roads safe. The RAC's prediction of 19 million trips marks the busiest bank holiday for roads in the last ten years, prompting the police to issue this timely reminder.
