Hockerhill Playbarn Cafe Opens to Adults Without Play Tickets on Mondays
Staffordshire Playbarn Cafe Opens for Adult-Only Dining

A popular family attraction near Birmingham has made a significant change to its rules, now allowing adults to enjoy its highly praised cafe without the need to purchase a ticket for the play area.

A New Chapter for the Popular Cafe

Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn in Brewood, Staffordshire, which opened to great fanfare in March 2024, is now opening its cafe doors to adults on a dedicated day. The new policy, which started as a trial in December 2024, will be available on Mondays during school term time.

Previously, access to the cafe, which has become a surprise hit with parents, was restricted to those who had paid for entry to the play centre's turrets, bridges, high-level climbing frames, and indoor go-kart track. The decision to change this rule followed direct feedback from customers who expressed a strong desire to visit the eatery independently.

What's on the Menu?

The cafe offers an extensive menu that serves brunch all day. Options include superfood granola with Greek yoghurt and berries, chorizo hash, smashed avocado on toast, eggs royale, and full English breakfasts.

For lunch, guests can choose from homemade soup, nachos, sandwiches, warm paninis, and loaded croissants. There are also juicy burgers—beef, chicken, and vegetarian—alongside hand-rolled sourdough pizzas with various toppings. The venue also provides milkshakes, coffee, tea, and cake, making it a suitable spot for casual meetings or catching up with friends.

Driven by Customer Enthusiasm

Tessa Giffard, co-owner of Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn and custodian of the Chillington Hall Estate, explained the reasoning behind the change. "Until now, it has only been possible to enjoy the delicious food from Hockerhill’s cafe if you have a ticket for the play area," she said.

"But after some helpful feedback from customers who have a genuine enthusiasm and appreciation for the food our amazing team serves, we have decided to open up the cafe to adults without a playbarn booking or child in attendance."

Since opening, Tessa and her husband Charlie have focused on seasonal menus using local produce, with options available for those with food intolerances or allergies.

Charlie Giffard added: "For everyone who visits Hockerhill, our aim is that they leave having enjoyed quality time with friends and family." He stated that by opening the cafe on Mondays and offering unlimited play time, they hope to provide more opportunities for the community to connect, enjoy challenges, and feel nourished by delicious food in a joyful environment.

It is important to note that this adult-only cafe access is specifically for Mondays during school term time. The offer does not apply during school holidays, on bank holidays, or on inset days.
