A Solihull bar has announced a 'very special' event following the 'heartbreaking' death of Matt O'Gara. O'Gara, who was the director of The Plough in Lichfield, died last month after reportedly being punched at another bar, Ricco & Loren.
After more than £10,000 was raised through a GoFundMe appeal, Strawberry Fields bar in Shirley wants to 'show love, support and solidarity' with Matt's family and friends. Located on the Stratford Road, the late-night bar is known for its DJs and live music.
Fundraiser Night Details
On July 11, Strawberry Fields will open its doors to the public for an evening described as 'an opportunity to remember' Matt O'Gara. The bar shared on social media: 'On Saturday July 11, we will be holding a very special evening in memory of Matt O’Gara, who was tragically taken far too soon.'
'Matt’s sister, Emma, has been a much-loved regular at Strawbs over the years, and the O’Gara family are part of our local community. In the face of such heartbreaking loss, we want to come together as a community to show our love, support, and solidarity with Matt’s family and friends.'
How to Support
The evening will be a chance to remember Matt and raise funds that will be passed on to the family during this difficult time. The bar is also calling for donations from local businesses or individuals for a raffle. 'Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us raise as much as possible for the family. Please drop us a message if you would like to contribute or message Louise Hopkins.'
More details are expected in the coming days. The bar concluded: 'With love and deepest sympathy, from all of us at Strawbs.'
