A 49-year-old man is set to appear in court next month after being charged with a knife offence in a Birmingham suburb.
Police Respond to Suspicious Behaviour Report
West Midlands Police confirmed that officers were dispatched to Selly Park Road in Selly Oak at approximately 1pm on Thursday, January 15. The call-out followed a report from a member of the public concerning a man who was said to be acting suspiciously on the street.
Arrest and Charge Following Investigation
Upon attending the scene, officers conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of a local man. During the procedure, a knife was also seized by the police.
The force has since announced that Richard Murray, aged 49, has been formally charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Court Appearance Scheduled
Murray is now scheduled to face justice at Birmingham Magistrates' Court next month. A police spokesperson reiterated the facts of the case in a statement, confirming the location, time, and nature of the charge.
