A serving British Transport Police officer based in Birmingham has been charged with two counts of rape, following an investigation by a neighbouring force.
Officer Suspended Following Arrest
PC Christopher Jenkins, aged 32, was suspended from duty on 2 April 2025. This action was taken immediately after the British Transport Police (BTP) were notified of his arrest by West Mercia Police.
The charges against the officer are connected to an alleged incident that is said to have occurred in March 2025, while PC Jenkins was off duty.
Court Appearance Scheduled
PC Jenkins is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday, 20 January 2026. He will face the charges at Worcester Magistrates’ Court.
In an official statement, a spokesperson for British Transport Police confirmed the details: "A serving BTP officer is set to appear at court charged with two counts of rape, following an investigation by West Mercia Police."
Investigation Handled by External Force
The criminal probe was conducted by West Mercia Police, a standard procedure for ensuring impartiality when allegations involve officers from another force. This external investigation led to the decision to charge the Birmingham-based constable.
The case highlights the protocols in place for dealing with serious allegations against serving police officers, involving immediate suspension and an independent investigative process.
