Detectives from West Midlands Police have vowed to find those responsible for the fatal stabbing of a teenager in Birmingham, revealing they have been working through the night on the investigation.
Appeal for Witnesses After Tragic Discovery
Emergency services were called to Olton Boulevard East in Acocks Green at 1.48pm on Tuesday, January 13. Paramedics discovered a young man, Chris Ikouara, aged 19, with critical stab wounds.
Despite the immediate efforts of ambulance crews, including a trauma doctor and critical care paramedic who administered advanced life support, Chris could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Intensive Police Investigation Underway
A significant police presence flooded the area following the incident, with a cordon remaining in place at the address. Detective Superintendent Jim Munro, from the force's homicide team, provided an update on the probe.
"Specialist officers have been working through the night and following several lines of enquiry as we work to find who was involved," he stated. "Our thoughts remain with Chris’s family, friends, and loved ones."
An eyewitness has suggested the teenager died in a garden after entering from Warwick Road, though police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances.
How the Public Can Help
Officers are now making a direct appeal for information from the public to assist their investigation. They are particularly keen to obtain any dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the area around the time of the incident.
Information can be submitted via a Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP), by calling 101 and quoting log number 2771 of 13 January, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Det Supt Munro added that local officers are conducting reassurance patrols in the Acocks Green community following the tragic event.
