Armed police descended on a busy Birmingham street after gunshots were fired, leaving one man injured and leading to three arrests.

Armed Police Response to Sparkhill Incident

The incident occurred near the junction of Stratford Road and Durham Road in Sparkhill at approximately 7.25pm on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Officers from West Midlands Police responded rapidly to reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, they discovered one man had sustained a minor injury. Police believe his wound was caused by flying shrapnel from the discharge. A vehicle parked nearby was also damaged in the incident.

Suspects Flee but are Apprehended

Police confirmed that a number of men attempted to flee the scene as officers arrived. However, a swift operation led to their detention.

During their immediate enquiries, officers seized a quantity of cannabis and a sum of cash. This discovery prompted further arrests on suspicion of drug-related offences.

Three Men in Custody for Questioning

Three men, aged 23, 25, and 27, were all arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. They remain in police custody for questioning as investigations continue.
