Birmingham's Most Dangerous Postcodes: Full List

Exclusive crime data has pinpointed the Birmingham neighbourhoods considered the city's most dangerous, where residents face the highest risk of encountering serious violent and sexual offences.

Inner-City Areas Bear the Brunt of Serious Crime

Statistics from West Midlands Police show that inner-city areas consistently experience the highest levels of serious offending. In the worst-affected policing districts, more than 2,000 violent and sexual offences were reported in just 12 months. These communities have, in some cases, been historically impacted by gang violence and local disputes, contributing to their current crime profiles.

The data, covering the period up to August 2025, groups violent and sexual crimes together. This category encompasses the most severe offences, including murder, robbery, rape, and domestic violence.

Context and Police Response

The release of this data comes in the wake of several high-profile violent incidents in the city. Notably, 19-year-old Yassin Alma was stabbed to death in Handsworth Wood in November, prior to the Christmas period which saw a wave of stabbings.

Despite these tragic events and the concerning figures for specific localities, police chiefs maintain that overall violent crime across the West Midlands region is trending downwards. The statistics highlight the concentrated nature of serious crime within certain postcodes, underscoring ongoing challenges for community safety initiatives in Birmingham's most vulnerable areas.
