Police Launch CCTV Appeal Following Broad Street Robbery and Assault
West Midlands Police have issued a public appeal for information after a teenager was robbed and assaulted on Broad Street in Birmingham city centre. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, January 23, outside nightclubs on what is known as the city's busiest street for nightlife.
Details of the Incident
The victim, an 18-year-old male, was targeted by assailants who stole his watch and phone before physically assaulting him. Officers responded swiftly to the scene, leading to the arrest of two men, aged 19 and 20, at the location. However, police are now seeking to identify another individual in connection with the robbery and subsequent attack.
A force spokesperson stated: "We'd like to speak to him about an assault following a robbery on Broad Street in Birmingham. A man, aged 18, was robbed in the early hours of Friday, January 23. His watch and phone were stolen before he was further assaulted."
CCTV Image Released
This morning, West Midlands Police released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to as part of their ongoing enquiries. The image shows a man dressed in black clothing walking along a tram line in the city. Authorities are urging anyone who recognises the individual or has any relevant information to come forward immediately.
The spokesperson added: "Officers were quickly at the scene and arrested two men, aged 19 and 20. We are now hoping to speak to this man as part of our enquiries. If you recognise him or have information which could help our investigation, please contact us."
