Staffordshire Police have issued a CCTV appeal following the theft of an elderly woman's bank card in a Tamworth car park, which led to unauthorised withdrawals from her account.

Incident Details

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 22, at the Marmion Street car park in Tamworth town centre. Police believe a man engaged the victim in conversation before taking her bank card. Later that same day, money was removed from her account using the stolen card.

Officers have released three CCTV images of a man they wish to speak with in connection with the theft. He is described as white, with a goatee beard and dark hair. In the images, he is wearing a black hooded top, cargo trousers, and light-coloured shoes or boots. He also had keys on a lanyard around his neck.

Police Appeal

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for information after an elderly woman was conned out of money near a pay and display machine in Tamworth. The incident was reported to us at around 1.30pm on Wednesday, April 22. The victim had been at Marmion Street car park when a man reportedly took her bank card following a conversation. Later the same day, money was withdrawn from the victim’s account.”

The spokesperson added: “The man is described as white, wearing dark clothing. We have conducted inquiries locally and are releasing CCTV images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with the theft. Anyone who recognises this person or who has relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 376 of 22 April. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with their investigation.
