Charity Shop Burglary Suspect Arrested Following Wolverhampton Police Pursuit
A man suspected of burgling a charity shop in the Black Country has been apprehended after a dramatic police chase through Wolverhampton. Leon Bailey, aged 44, was detained by officers following a pursuit that ended on Stafford Road.
Details of the Alleged Crimes
Bailey is alleged to have broken into a charity shop located on Victoria Street in Wolverhampton earlier this month. During this burglary, electrical items valued at approximately £300 were reportedly stolen from the premises.
In addition to the charity shop burglary, Bailey faces a series of other serious charges. These include multiple shoplifting offences from various shops situated on Cannock Road. During one of these alleged thefts, a shop worker was reportedly assaulted by the suspect.
The Police Chase and Arrest
West Midlands Police officers spotted the suspect on Tuesday afternoon, March 24th. When they attempted to apprehend him, Bailey allegedly tried to flee the scene, prompting a police chase through the city centre.
The pursuit concluded successfully at approximately 1:30 PM when officers managed to detain Bailey on Stafford Road. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the arrest and provided details about the ongoing investigation into retail crime in the area.

Leon Bailey, who is currently of no fixed address, has been formally charged with burglary in connection with the charity shop incident. He was scheduled to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, March 25th, to face these charges.
