Victim in Critical Condition
The cyclist, a 29-year-old man, sustained a serious head injury and was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, and an emergency BASICS doctor to the scene. The man received advanced trauma care before being transported to the hospital under blue lights.
Police Investigation
West Midlands Police reported that the car involved failed to stop and was last seen heading towards Coleshill Road. The vehicle is described as a black estate. Officers have since recovered a suspected vehicle, which will undergo forensic examination. No arrests have been made, and inquiries are ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, stated: “While the investigation is in its early stages, recovering a vehicle is a positive step. However, I am keeping an open mind about the circumstances and urge any witnesses to come forward. Collisions have devastating consequences, and my priority is to get answers for the victim and his family. CCTV shows there were other cars and witnesses at the scene, and I appeal for them to contact us.”
