The heartbroken family of a father who died after a hit-and-run crash in Birmingham has pleaded for his killer to be found. Thomas Brown, 29, was named and pictured by loved ones as the victim of the fatal incident on Heath Way, near the Hunters Moon pub in Hodge Hill, after 7.45pm on Sunday, April 26.
The 29-year-old was rushed to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a critical condition, but he died three days later. His mother, Tobi Brown, 49, from Erdington, told BirminghamLive: "He was on his bike going to meet his partner and, from what we've been told, the car jumped the kerb at speed and knocked into the back of him. He had catastrophic head injuries and he died of his injuries."
Thomas leaves behind a partner and a two-year-old boy. His mother added: "It's a life gone and no one has been held accountable for it. Police have done forensics on the car but they have no suspects."
Police Investigation Ongoing
West Midlands Police said the car, which failed to stop at the scene, was last seen driving towards Coleshill Road. It was described as a black estate vehicle. Officers later recovered a vehicle suspected of being involved in the crash. No arrests had been made.
Community Support and Family Tribute
A GoFundMe page has been set up in Thomas's memory to cover funeral costs. His mother, Tobi, described him as "the most kind-hearted person. He'd go out of his way to help anybody regardless of who they were. He helped one of his friends when she went into labour in his living room and helped her deliver the baby. He was bubbly, always up for a laugh, just the kindest soul you could have."
A police spokeswoman said: "Our investigation is ongoing and we would ask anyone who may not have spoken to us, or has any information that could help to get in touch." They urged people to call 101 quoting incident number 4048-260426 or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at sciu@westmidlands.police.uk.
