A man is due to appear in court after multiple people were allegedly assaulted and threatened in Dudley over the weekend.
Incident on The Minories
Police were called to The Minories at approximately 12:25pm on Sunday, April 26, following reports of two men being assaulted, a van being damaged, and a man in possession of a large plank of wood.
Charges Filed
Nabeel Ahmed, aged 31, from Sheffield, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, affray, assault, racially aggravated common assault, and criminal damage. He was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Monday, April 27.
Police Response
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "A man is due to appear in court after multiple people were assaulted and threatened in Dudley. Nabeel Ahmed has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, affray, assault, racially aggravated common assault and criminal damage."
The spokesperson added: "It follows a quick response by officers to reports of two men being assaulted, a van being damaged, and a man in possession of a large plank of wood, on The Minories, yesterday (26 April), at around 12.25pm. Ahmed has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court today."
Ambulance Service Involvement
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance to the scene, but medics were 'stood down' on arrival. A spokesperson said: "We were called to concerns for a patient’s welfare at The Minories in Dudley at 12.38pm and sent an ambulance to the scene. On arrival, crews found a man. He did not wish to be assessed and we were stood down."
