Elderly Woman Fatally Stabbed in Southeast London Incident
An 84-year-old woman has tragically lost her life after a stabbing incident in Plumstead, southeast London. The victim has been identified as Doris Innes, a resident of the area, whose family is currently receiving support from specialist officers of the Metropolitan Police.
Police Response and Investigation Details
Authorities were alerted to the situation at approximately 8:50 AM on Wednesday, April 1, following reports of a man in possession of a knife. Police officers, alongside the London Ambulance Service, swiftly attended the scene at Red Lion Place. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman with severe injuries, who was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, she later succumbed to her wounds.
The investigation quickly expanded as officers identified two additional individuals who were threatened with a knife near the location of the attack. Fortunately, these victims did not sustain any physical injuries during the ordeal.
Arrest and Charges Filed
In connection with the investigation, a 62-year-old man was arrested shortly after 9:10 AM on the same day. The suspect, Giorgio Pin, aged 62 and residing on Brookhill Road in Woolwich, has since been formally charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder. He has been remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court on Saturday, April 4.
The Metropolitan Police have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, with no further details released at this time. The community is urged to come forward with any information that may assist the authorities in their inquiries.
